The idea that someone might have a ‘job for life’ is almost impossible to conceive these days. We’re all likely to have at least 10 jobs during the course of our careers. However, that does’t mean that we can’t have ‘lifelong employment’. We simply have to understand that this means something different now.
This webinar will introduce you to the concept of the ‘Intelligent Career’. The term refers to the notion that in today’s constantly changing world of work, we need to assume ownership of our careers rather than passively allowing circumstances or other people to determine what we do.
That in turn requires defining what ‘career ownership’ actually means for us, and then using our ‘intelligence’ to pursue it.
This webinar is a unique opportunity to hear Professor Michael Arthur (Emeritus Professor at Suffolk University, Boston, USA, and Visiting Professor at Cranfield School of Management, UK) discuss this topic, and his experience of using the Intelligent Career Framework to support early and mid-career professionals.
During the webinar, you will be offered the opportunity to engage in a UNIQUE 4-week career exploration process which is based on the Intelligent Career Framework.
This structured programme provides a means for you to step back, reflect on your career and consider what work means to you at this stage in your life, what you want it to mean moving forwards, and what changes you need to make to get from here to there.
The programme will take the form of a focus group. That is to say, you will be identifying and discussing career motivations and priorities with other early career researchers with a view to generating shared insights and stimulating ideas for action.
The programme consists of 4 x 90 minute sessions spread over four weeks.
These will take place on Mondays at 16:00 GMT (UK) on Zoom on the following dates:
